While this book provides good training information that I've learned from other books and trainers, I just get really turned off by these positive reinforcement zealots who find it necessary to trash Cesar Millan like this author does. I hired a local trainer (another positive reinforcement extremist) who also did the same. I don't see Cesar's techniques as harsh in any way. And his basic principles (e.g., being calm and assertive, importance of energy to dogs, etc.) are the foundation you need before applying specific techniques. Also, I don't see mother dogs wearing little treat bags and clicking every time their puppy does something right. I think it behooves every dog owner to learn a variety of training techniques and to adjust accordingly to your specific dog since dogs are different in the specific reward/correction they respond to. But always remember to have calm, assertive energy!
